The Ole Miss Rebels have found their replacement for Decamerion Richardson at cornerback.

Amorion Walker, a cornerback for Michigan, formally declared on Wednesday that he will be moving to Oxford for the 2024 campaign. Walker’s eligibility with the Rebels will expire after two years.
A few days following Michigan’s first national title since 1997, Walker declared his intention to join the portal. The former wide receiver and current cornerback wanted to increase his playing time and go back to his hometown of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Walker met with the Rebels’ staff over the weekend in Oxford and committed several days later. He’s now expected to be a staple of the secondary led by second-year defensive coordinator Pete Golding.
As spring practice approaches, the Rebels’ aggressive methods are expected to raise preseason expectations even further. Ole Miss is still the #1 transfer portal team going into February, despite the losses of Tamarion McDonald (Louisville), Tyler Baron (Louisville), and Decamerion Richardson (NFL draft).
In Ann Arbor, Walker’s playing time was limited for both teams. He made three tackles while playing seven games at wide receiver and six at defensive back, including a half-TFL against Indiana on October 14.
Bruce Feldman of The Athletic mentioned Walker at the beginning of the season in his yearly “Freak List” piece. The assertion has evidence behind it, as fellow Michigan defensive back Will Johnson shared an Instagram story indicating
showed Walker ran a 6.1-second 3-cone drill.
At the NFL combine, the time would have set a record for all players. Feldman also talked about how his transition from a skinny receiver to a powerful defensive back surprised Michigan’s strength coach Ben Herbert.
Herbert remarked, “It’s the fastest time I have ever seen and probably the fastest I will ever see.” “That pace is nearly a whole half a second quicker than the quickest time (6.57 seconds) set by Jaxon Smith-Njigba at the combine last spring. Additionally, it would smash the 6.42 combine record.
Walker becomes a member of a secondary that also includes transfers Yam Banks from South Alabama, Tahveon Nicholson from Illinois, Key Lawrence from Oklahoma, and Louis Moore from Indiana.
