Fifteen people attending Saturday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins were hospitalized
the Kansas City Fire Department informed KMBC in Kansas City that seven people were treated for hypothermia and three for frostbite as a result of the extremely cold weather.
69 calls from Arrowhead Stadium, either from within the stadium or from the parking lot, were received on Saturday, according to KCFD, with half of those calls being connected to hypothermia.
One of the coldest NFL playoff games ever took place in Kansas City as a result of below-freezing temperatures and wind chills as low as twenty below zero. Fans made an effort to welcome them in spite of the weather rather than run for cover.
Fifteen fans who attended the Chiefs-Dolphins game were hospitalized due to the frigid weather.
However, several fans ultimately needed to be checked out as a result of sitting through the cold. The hospitalization numbers do not include fans who were checked at first aid stations in the stadium or fans who walked into KU Medical Center aid stations outside the stadium.
