How Michigan can get into trouble with Jim Harbaugh has $125M contract extension offer
Throughout the season, Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has garnered attention primarily because of the team’s success in the College Football Playoffs, in spite of various scandals.
However, Harbaugh’s name has come up as a possible NFL head coach candidate in the years since he left the San Francisco 49ers after the 2014 season. Since assuming leadership at Michigan in late December 2014, he has had a prosperous stint.
As the 2023 season draws to a close, he seems to be considering a significant choice.
The NFL Network revealed on Sunday that Harbaugh received an offer to stay with Michigan that included a 10-year, $125 million contract extension. However, there is allegedly an NFL twist to the agreement. He would consent to wait until after the 2024 season to consider or accept an NFL employment offer.
The agreement would only last for one season, according to the NFL Network. His current contract expires in 2026, however he is free to leave at any time.
Given the number of coaches that have been dismissed in the middle of the season, there are currently several head coaching positions available in the NFL. After Week 18 concludes, there might also be exciting career opportunities available.
In the last two hiring rounds, Harbaugh had interviews with the Minnesota Vikings and the Denver Broncos, respectively. The Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and Las Vegas Raiders all have openings in the upcoming season, and Harbaugh might be the person to help their teams succeed there.
Harbaugh is currently getting Michigan ready for their semifinal College Football Playoff matchup with Alabama.
