Nottingham Forest went in search of a number of players during the summer transfer window and it proved a fruitful time of things for the club.
The Reds had some money to spend but chose to be more frugal in the market. Nikola Milenkovic and Elliot Anderson were the marquee signings and neither of those really broke the bank.
Forest took a chance on the likes of Jota Silva, Ramon Sosa and Morato but, in large, the players who have arrived have made a positive impact on the season so far.

As with any transfer window, there were some players who got away. A striker was right at the top of the hit list for Forest but the club couldn’t get one over the line.
Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest three times in the summer. Furthermore, Eddie Nketiah was also a Forest target but he chose to sign for Crystal Palace instead.
At the other end of the pitch, the Reds briefly looked at a goalkeeper. With Matz Sels in fine form for Forest the decision not to sign one looks wise and with one target a lucky escape was definitely had.
Forest get lucky escape over Aaron Ramsdale
Forest were linked with Ramsdale in the summer. Ultimately, a deal wasn’t completed as Forest did essentially have two goalkeepers and didn’t fancy spending £25 million on one.
A move to Southampton always felt intriguing for Ramsdale. They were always fancied to struggle and leaving Arsenal to sign for the Saints permanently felt odd – yet here we are.
On Sunday, it was a chance to see Ramsdale in action as he lined up for the visitors to the City Ground. Okay, his defence wasn’t up to much in front of him but it appeared that a major flaw in his game was evident.
All three of Forest’s goals were to Ramsdale’s right. Elliot Anderson’s was a wonderful strike and whilst Callum Hudson-Odoi’s was well-placed, the goalkeeper had a lot of time to see it.
The third from Chris Wood, felt like an error. The striker’s header wasn’t even strong, he merely placed it towards the corner of the goal and it almost felt like Ramsdale dived over it.
In the second half, Forest thought they’d scored a fourth. A tame header from Milenkovic was fumbled over the line by Ramsdale, with VAR saving his bacon and cancelling out the goal.
Forest might need to target a goalkeeper in the summer
Southampton aren’t going to remain in the Premier League. With six points they languish 10 points clear of safety and with just 16 games left to play, it feels very unlikely.
With that in mind, it feels hard to imagine Ramsdale remaining at St Mary’s. However, we’re not sure Forest should really be targeting him next summer even if the price is right.
Forest have been linked with Caoimhin Kelleher and perhaps he would be a safer bet. He’s got a prolonged run in the Liverpool team this year and would arrive in relatively confident spirits.
Ramsdale has been relegated a lot as a player. Now, he looks set to stick another one on his CV and ultimately, based on Sunday’s showing, Forest got a very lucky escape by choosing to stick with Sels for the 2024/25 campaign.
