Eben Etzebeth puts Siya Kolisi in his place after move to France

Eben Etzebeth has jokingly disowned his Springbok captain Siya Kolisi following the latter’s move to the Top 14 in France.

In a lighthearted gesture, Eben Etzebeth has disowned his Springbok captain Siya Kolisi after the player advanced to the Top 14 in France.

The South African legends were teammates at the Sharks and Springboks last season, for both club and country. However, the captain of the national squad has since moved to Racing 92.

Prior to the 2023–24 season, Kolisi joined Racing 92, and he made his debut in their victory over La Rochelle this past weekend.

Over the weekend, Etzebeth made another appearance. He started the Sharks’ 69-14 United Rugby Championship (URC) victory over the Dragons in Durban.

Following his homecoming, Etzebeth sent a photo to Instagram with the message, “Great to back with the @sharksrugby.”

Kolisi responded with a couple of affectionate emojis, but the second-rower wasn’t having it and poked a bit of fun at the Springbok skipper.

“If you’re not in my team, I don’t want you in my comments!” he quipped.

Kolisi responded by saying: “I’m sorry I was just passing by couldn’t (help) myself! Saying hello from the other side!”

The Springbok captain had spent his entire professional career in South Africa, firstly with the Stormers before

After two seasons with the Sharks, he made the decision to play in Europe in 2023–2024.

In Sunday’s Top 14 encounter, Racing 92 named Kolisi in their starting lineup. Kolisi played 54 minutes in the team’s 32-10 victory.

Kolisi told reporters, “Before the game, I was pretty nervous because your reputation and everything you do can only take you so far.”

“The boys only show respect for you based on your performance on the field, so I wanted to play well and contribute in that way.

I’m going to try my hardest, but it will be difficult for me to establish my authority.
