Just in Nottingham Forest Make Final Transfer Decision on Andrew Omobamidele
Leeds United have shown an interest in Nottingham Forest centre-back Andrew Omobamidele this January as a new revelation has come to the surface.
Daniel Farke is planning a ‘relatively young’ approach this window as he looks to incorporate exciting talent into his Leeds squad.
One of which is Forest centre-back Andrew Omobamidele who has been shied away from Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.
Leeds are hoping to reunite Omobamidele with Farke after their stint in Norwich together as the Leeds boss brought the 22-year-old through the ranks in 2021.
A new factor in the transfer saga has come to light, and a reliable source is making the claim.
As it looks like Sheffield will lose out, the Blades fans are desperate to sign Omobamidele, but it doesn’t necessarily mean Leeds are clear in the race.
Although interested, there have been no signs of Leeds readying a bid for the Irish international, and Sky Sports (39:40) have revealed that Forest are ‘open’ to offers for the centre-back.
In a transfer update, they revealed that Espirito Santo’s side are ‘willing’ to listen to either permanent or loan deals as the defender is struggling for game time in the Premier League.
With no bid being submitted just yet, Sheffield could throw their hat in the ring once more and provide competition for Leeds.
Omobamidele could favour Farke reunion at Leeds over move to Sheffield
With the main factor looking evident that Omobamidele will leave the Premier League this window it brings up debate about who he would better suit.
Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United have four solid options, but Harry Souttar suffered a frustrating injury which looks to keep him out for up to a year.
This could open the door for Omobamidele but it will still be difficult to get in over Anel Ahmedhodzic and Jack Robinson who have the second-best defence in the Championship so far this season.
From a Leeds point of view, Farke is hoping to sign four players this January and a centre-back is one on the list.
Depth is the priority but Omobamidele has shown serious quality under Farke at Norwich against Leeds themselves, as he can provide competition for Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon.
