Michigan QB JJ McCarthy Receives Huge NFL Draft Prediction

Michigan Wolverines quarterback JJ McCarthy may not currently occupy a prominent position on the majority of mock draft boards, but a noteworthy NFL Draft analyst has expressed confidence that he will rise to become a top-15 selection.

NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller of ESPN recently expressed his firm opinion that JJ McCarthy would be selected in the top 15 picks of the upcoming NFL Draft during a guest interview on the College GameDay Podcast.

“I genuinely think he will be a top-15 draft pick; I know this will surprise a lot of people. The mental makeup and the instruments have captured the hearts of evaluators. People have this misconception that because Michigan had such a strong run defense, he was sort of protected there. Their offensive line may simply overwhelm opponents. Against Penn State, we witnessed that in the second half. He didn’t try to pass and get called back for a foul. Therefore, I believe that at this point in McCarthy’s career, it’s more about the stuff you don’t know and are comfortable with, which you can sort of brush off.

McCarthy completed 72.3 percent of his completion attempts for 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions in his 2023 campaign with the Wolverines. In addition, he gained three touchdowns and 202 yards on the run.
These figures demonstrate McCarthy’s ascent through the draft boards. He can undoubtedly place in the top-15, and some people think he can even place in the top-10.

Where the Michigan standout ends up in the 2024 NFL Draft will be interesting to see. He has enormous potential to play in the NFL; that much is certain. Compared to other quarterbacks like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, he is more surrounded by doubts.

When the NFL Draft gets closer, JJ McCarthy will likely be discussed more. He keeps moving up the board in mock drafts for the time being.
