‘I was lucky’: Destiny Udogie is so happy that Tottenham went and signed £16m player this summer

Destiny Udogie has now said how grateful he has been towards his Tottenham Hotspur teammates since joining, in particular Guglielmo Vicario.

In a lengthy interview with, Udogie stated that he already feels as though he has known the Spurs players for ten years.

The full back also thought it was fortunate that Vicario, a fellow countryman, joined the team at the same time.

“The entire team was really nice [when I joined],” remarked Udogie.

“I got lucky.” Vic arrived at the same time, but everyone was helpful in making me feel at home.

As soon as I arrived, it felt like I had known them for ten years, so having teammates like them was ideal for me.

Naturally, this may help to explain how the 20-year-old has been able to get off to such a strong start so early.

Since moving from Udinese, Udogie has adapted quickly to both Ange Postecoglou’s team and the Premier League.

The Italian now appears to be crucial to this initiative, along with individuals like Pedro Porro and Yves Bissouma.

Udogie is very grateful to have Vicario with him at Tottenham

Both Udogie and £16 million Vicario must have their sights set on earning their first senior Italy caps given their success at Tottenham this year.

Vicario was most recently a member of the Italy team, however he did not play.

Additionally, Udogie has been outstanding for the U21s but has not yet been called up to the senior team. This could change very soon.

Fans may hope that Udogie and Vicario may be fixtures for Italy for a while, much like former Tottenham sides were the backbone of the England squad.

James Maddison is a different player who might be aiming to advance his international career due to his Spurs form.

Maddison has failed to contribute significantly for England despite currently being regarded as ‘world-class’ by critics and supporters alike.
