“I didn’t expect it” – BBC pundit says “underrated” Tottenham figure has just blown him away

The former Arsenal star is shocked by how good he’s been.

Former Arsenal star and BBC pundit Ian Wright has explained how an “underrated” figure at Tottenham is completely surprising him.

Latest Spurs news

After moving from Celtic in the summer, Ange Postecoglou has so far dominated the Premier League. After Antonio Conte’s disastrous final season in charge of the club, the Australian’s attack-minded, dynamic style of play is energizing the fans and giving them some hope that things are improving. Spurs are presently ranked second in the rankings after winning five of their first seven league games, and they have scored as many goals as last season’s triple-champions Man City.

Tottenham is in excellent shape going into their next match against Luton Town with victories against Bournemouth, Man United, Burnley, Sheffield United, and Liverpool, as well as 2-2 draws with both Brentford and Arsenal. In extremely dramatic circumstances, Postecoglou’s most recent victory over Liverpool occurred after the Reds had two players sent off and a Luis Diaz goal disallowed. Son Heung-min and Joel Matip both scored goals to offset Cody Gakpo’s goal and give Tottenham a decisive victory. Postecoglou praised his team’s perseverance.

“We knew it wouldn’t be an easy game for us, and even in the circumstances, we had some unique challenges,” the Australian added.

“Some of these individuals may be facing situations like this for the first time, but overall, we handled it well. Again, having that late winner increases the group’s confidence and spirit. The problem with Liverpool is that they are still just as dangerous even with 10 men because their game strategy is the same, they capitalize on errors, and they have elite front-line players who can harm you. Because we remained a little calmer, kept up our pressure in the wide spaces, and earned our reward, I thought the second half was better.

How good is Ange Postecoglou?

Postecoglou’s “Ange-ball” is currently making ripples in England after a succession of major triumphs in Scotland and Asia. You may be forgiven for first believing this was a risky choice because Spurs were connected to individuals like Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique as Conte’s replacements. But so far, Spurs’ backup selection is disproving doubters.

This week [02/10/23 @ 2:20 pm] on Premier League productions, BBC commentator Wright revealed that Tottenham’s popular new manager had completely taken him by surprise.

“It’s underrated,” said Wright [via HITC].
