Tottenham: BBC pundit suggests “fantastic” £45m star may join Ange at Spurs

Former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has had his say on Ange Postecoglou potentially bringing a £45 million star to Spurs in January.

Who have Tottenham signed 2023?

The north Londoners did a great job of bringing in seven key players during the summer transfer window of 2023, including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, young center back Ashley Phillips, defender Micky van de Ven, midfielder James Maddison, winger Manor Solomon, striker Alejo Veliz, and forward Brennan Johnson.

However, Postecoglou’s team was unable to complete late deals for a replacement for van de Ven as well as a traditional number nine in the mold of Harry Kane.

Gift Orban, a striker for Gent, and Lloyd Kelly, a defender for Bournemouth, were reportedly targets for Tottenham in the days running up to the transfer deadline.

Recent rumors also indicate that they might make another attempt to sign players like Kelly when the January transfer window opens.

Whatever happens, Spurs fans will be happy with how the new season has started for their team. The Lilywhites have won three of their first four games while scoring 11 goals, maintaining their perfect record.

In that time, Postecoglou’s dynamic, forward style of football has been on full show for all to see – a far cry from Antonio Conte’s final season in charge.

Players like Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison have dazzled as part of Tottenham’s new-look midfield, and it will be interesting to see if Spurs do decide to bring in more bodies when the window reopens.

What’s the latest Spurs transfer news?

A few other players were left off the list in the days before September 1; this list includes Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Around that time, it was said that Postecoglou had his eye on the Englishman, particularly in light of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s hazy future and the late-window interest he attracted.

Mauricio Pochettino has so far made Gallagher a mainstay despite the fact that he was frequently linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge throughout the summer.

The 23-year-old has started each of Chelsea’s first four Premier League games, and according to WhoScored, he is even one of the team’s top two performers per 90.

It comes as no surprise that Postecoglou wanted to sign the £45 million Gallagher, and BBC analyst Hutton has speculated that he may decide to join Tottenham this winter.

When asked about the “fantastic” player’s prospective transfer to north London by Football Insider, he made the statement.

Hutton stated, “We’ll have to wait and see how much playing time he gets at Chelsea.

When everyone is healthy, we will have a very large and healthy squad, so it all depends on how Pochettino uses and views him.

Is he considering making him a regular starter? Or is he a team player more so? If that’s the case, he might be looking to play football come January.

“Whoever signs him will be getting a wonderful footballer at a very good age, in my opinion. He will cost some money, but if Tottenham could get him, I believe he would improve their team.
