Kaizer Chiefs explore alternatives: Agbagno’s future uncertain

Kaizer Chiefs are exploring alternatves to Agbagno, as coach Nabi continues to look for striker options before the September 20th deadline.

Kaizer Chiefs are set to explore alternatives to Yawo Agbagno as his future is uncertain, according to Soccer Laduma.

Chiefs may need to consider other options beyond the Togolese striker in their quest for new signings especially forwards.

Agbagno, a 24-year-old centre-forward currently with AS OTR (Association Sportive de l’Office Togolais des Recettes), has emerged as a potential signing for Amakhosi. As Kaizer Chiefs prepare for their opening match of the 2024/2025 season against Marumo Gallants on September 14, Agbagno has been offered as a possible addition to the squad.

Sources indicate that Kaizer Chiefs may not rush into signing Agbagno without a thorough evaluation. Chiefs are carefully assessing whether Agbagno will fit into their tactical setup. Recent updates suggest that the club remains sceptical about Agbagno, as he has not been a primary target.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi’s search for talent

Coach Nasreddine Nabi continues to explore various options in the striker market, leveraging his extensive network in African football. Despite Agbagno’s link to Chiefs, Nabi is prioritising other players. “Yes, Chiefs are in search of players, and the striking department is one of the areas that coach Nabi is keen on strengthening. I am aware of the player you are enquiring about, and I have heard of the link with Chiefs, but what I can tell you is that there are other players that the coach prioritised,” a source revealed.

The insider also mentioned Congolese forward Fiston Mayele as a key target, noting. “Fiston Mayele, the Congolese forward, is one of the players that the coach wanted to have. And I would say his options are open for now on who to bring. It seems like the coach has his doubts about the Togolese striker at this moment on how different he might be to the players he already has in the squad.”

What’s next for Kaizer Chiefs?

As the September 20 transfer window deadline approaches, Kaizer Chiefs are set to make final decisions on new signings. The club remains focused on strengthening their squad. And may explore additional striker options to meet their goals for the upcoming season.
