Michigan offensive lineman Amir Herring is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The news was first reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
Herring appeared in one game as a true freshman for the Wolverines. He made his Michigan debut against Indiana, playing right guard. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.
Being a four-star talent out of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Herring signed a contract with the Wolverines. According to the On3 industry rankings, he was rated as the No. 4 player in Michigan and the No. 19 interior offensive lineman.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound offensive tackle turned down offers from several elite FBS schools, including Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, Michigan State, and others, in favor of joining the Wolverines.
In the last two days, Herring is the third Michigan player to access the NCAA transfer portal. This week, defensive back DJ Waller Jr. and former four-star linebacker Jeremiah Beasley also added their names to the portal.
