Jimmy Johnson Says He’s Back in Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones’s Good Graces
Longtime Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former coach Jimmy Johnson finally buried the hatchet this past season that Johnson was admitted into the Ring of Honor for the team. And it seems that Johnson has cemented himself into Jones’ inner group after nearly 30 years.
However, it’s debatable just how serious he is about it.
According to the Cowboys team website, Johnson stated, perhaps with a note of irony, on WQAM 560 AM in Miami. “Since the Ring of Honor, I am on his [Jerry Jones’s] advisory board now.”
Johnson laughed when he said it, but he also remarked that they are now back to discussing football.
An hour after his loss to Green Bay, Johnson said, “we were talking on the phone, and he was talking about what all he needed to do because he had big decisions on Mike McCarthy, Dan Quinn, and Dak Prescott.” “Now everything is going smoothly. I’m back with the Dallas Cowboys.
Johnson brought up the Cowboys’ humiliating 48–32 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the January wild-card round. It’s unlikely that we’ll ever know how involved Johnson is with the Cowboys, but at least the two Hall of Famers are no longer at odds.
