Steve Wilks comes to Chase Young’s defense ahead of 49ers-Lions NFC Championship
Steve Wilks knows that Chase Young and the 49ers can hound the Lions.
The San Francisco 49ers have a major worry ahead of their NFC Championship game. In their divisional clash, Kyle Shanahan’s defense was unable to sack Jordan Love once. This led supporters to declare that they might just lose to the Detroit Lions easily. Their defensive unit’s lack of aggression is a major contributing factor. The most hit was given to Chase Young. But defensive coordinator Steve Wilks stepped in to help.

“Chase filled in admirably. Chase Young worked hard to get close to Jordan Love; we didn’t have any sacks, but he was good rushing the passer and applying pressure to the quarterback, according to Steve Wilks.
The 49ers will be playing the Lions, who ran 71 plays in all, averaging 5.5 yards per play and 391 all-purpose yards. Additionally, their opponent’s offensive line gave up two sacks, which undoubtedly caused Jared Goff to become uneasy later in the game. They can certainly dominate and take home the NFC Championship if they do commit to being more aggressive.
Coach Shanahan backs up the 49ers defense
Kyle Shanahan also came up to defend his defensive squad. The 49ers head honcho did not like how they were chastised for spending a lot on their defense but not notching a sack against the Green Bay Packers.
