Timo Werner sends a brutal message to Chelsea critics after joining Tottenham

Timo Werner has pointedly reminded his critics that he achieved his goals at Chelsea, despite being seen by many as a transfer failure.

The German spent two years at Stamford Bridge but failed to live up to expectations, scoring just 10 Premier League goals. His struggles came as somewhat of a surprise, with Werner having been a prolific goalscorer in the

Bundesliga alongside RB Leipzig.

In the summer of 2022, he went back to Leipzig, but since then, he has had trouble maintaining his form. Werner has taken aim at people who criticized him during his failed time at Chelsea in an attempt to rebuild his career at Tottenham.

“I’m hoping to play as well as I can here. I want to bring it to the squad because those who have followed me in the Premier League know that I can be a threat to the opposition with my speed,” Werner told SpursPlay.

“I hope to fit in well with the team and that they enjoy my quirky attitude off the field. I think I can be a funny man. I watched the Premier League for a year and a half after leaving England, but not closely enough to follow every club.

“However, I have always followed Tottenham as a team. It shouldn’t be too awful to admit that I’ve come here to win things, including titles, as when I joined my previous club I said that I wanted to be a winner and win titles at the end. In the end, we won the Champions League.

Son Heung-min is currently representing South Korea in the Asian Cup.

Whether I was playing for Chelsea or Leipzig, there were always big, big games to play against Spurs. I’m extremely delighted to be here. I’ve joined a very, very big club. We have played against each other already.” Werner continued.

And now that I’m a member of the Club team, I’m excited about it and glad about it. Many things drew me in here, but the conversation with the manager was the main draw. I thought we had a great conversation, and he immediately made me feel like I should join a club.
