Michigan Wolverines Receive Huge Commitment From Offensive Weapon

Despite the imminent College Football Playoff championship game featuring the Michigan Wolverines, head coach Jim Harbaugh is not slowing down on the recruiting front.

Eli Owens, a 2025 four-star tight end from Alcoa, Tennessee, committed, marking his latest recruiting success.

Owens has confirmed his selection for the Michigan roster going forward by announcing his choice on Thursday. According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, he is regarded as the 19th-best tight end in the 2025 class and 355th overall.

At six and a half feet tall and 243 pounds in weight, Owens was a highly sought-after prospect who received 18 scholarship offers in all, according to 247 Sports. He ultimately chose the Michigan Wolverines over aggressive offers from prestigious schools like Michigan State, Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, to name a few.

During the 2022-23 season, Owens showcased his versatility on the field. He recorded 33 receptions, accumulating an impressive 385 yards and scoring five touchdowns across 15 games.

MaxPreps reports that Owens made a significant contribution to the defense with 21 tackles and two sacks, showcasing his skill on both sides of the ball.

The addition of Eli Owens to Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class strengthens the team’s growing momentum. In addition to Owens, the Wolverines have also signed three-star quarterback Carter Smith, four-star cornerback Chris Ewald, and three-star defensive lineman Bobby Kanka.

According to 247Sports, this outstanding bunch has contributed to the Michigan Wovlerines’ recruiting class rising to the 12th-best in the country.
