‘I thought he would suffer’… Pundit shocked by how well £22m Tottenham player is doing this season
Tottenham have surprised everyone this season.
After last year, the north London team was expecting a disappointing season. The football was dreadful and boring under Antonio Conte, and nobody anticipated that things would improve after Harry Kane’s summer departure.
Spurs, however, have improved under Ange Postecoglou. John Giles, speaking with Eamon Dunphy on The Stand, singled out one player who has truly surprised him this year.
Giles acknowledges that he never anticipated Heung-Min Son to be as successful as he has been this season, saying that he believed his play would suffer without Harry Kane on the squad.
Son has shocked Giles
The analyst gave his assessment of the £22 million guy.
“Son hasn’t stopped being an amazing player, has he? People assumed he would suffer because of his strong relationship with Kane, but Dunphy stated, “He’s got eight goals this season and he’s not suffering at all.”
“You look at the Kane relationship, he made a lot of goals for him. He struggled at the beginning of the season, but he went into a different position. I believed he would suffer, Eamon. Giles declared, “He’s a true pro who is incredibly talented and back to his old self, scoring goals the way we know he can.”
Better than ever
This season, Son has performed better than he possibly should have.
This summer, the South Korean lost his co-conspirator. For many years, their relationship served as the foundation of this Spurs club, but Son has now shown that he can succeed at Tottenham without Kane.
Naturally, Kane has also shown at Bayern Munich that he can succeed on his own without Son’s help.
Although the two of them are talented enough to be stars in their own right, their collaboration was wonderful for many years.
