Breaking News:Tottenham Hotspur ‘Open talks’ to sign ‘Very talented’ ex-Barcelona centre-back in January

Due to many injuries to important players over the previous few months, Tottenham Hotspur’s first season under Ange Postecoglou has been hampered.

As a result, the manager has grasped the significance of strengthening the squad’s depth. The Lilywhites currently seem to be looking to complete some transfer business during the forthcoming window in January. OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo is one name that has come up in recent transfer negotiations.

Tottenham Hotspur Holds Talks Over Jean-Clair Todibo Signing

According to Rob Guest of Football London, Spurs and the Ligue 1 team have “opened talks” over the prospective acquisition of the French center defender for next month. The North London team has made it their top goal to find a new center-half after Micky van de Ven’s horrific injury prevented them from succeeding in that role.

Guest goes on to say that the Lilywhites are considering a move for the teenage defender in order to bolster Postecoglou’s squad’s defense in the next January transfer window. With his progressive passing and ability to move forward with the ball, Todibo is regarded as being really remarkable and could fit in into the Spurs lineup right now. He has already had an impact for Nice in the French league, keeping them in the running for the championship.

What Did Postecoglou Say About January Transfer Plans?

Spurs will prioritize acquiring a new defender in January, as confirmed by Postecoglou in a recent interview with Sky Sports. He stated: “Once we lost Micky [van de Ven], and Eric Dier’s had some issues as well, we don’t have another center-back.” We can’t afford to take the chance that it will happen again, especially because Young Ash Phillips had just recently joined the team. As a result, it will undoubtedly be our first focus in January.

The Lilywhites seem determined to get a new defender, and they are reportedly considering a trade for Todibo, who was praised as “very talented” by former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey earlier this season. The 23-year-old defender has helped Nice maintain nine clean sheets in 14 Ligue 1 games this year, and the Spurs management has taken notice of his outstanding play.
