‘Spurs fans won’t like this’: Gary Neville makes claim about Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham win
Tottenham Hotspur are back on track as they made it two Premier League wins in a row on Friday night.
Spurs defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 to tie Manchester City for the most points in the standings.While presenting the game on Sky Sports, Gary Neville continued with a statement that “Spurs fans won’t like” about Ange Postecoglou.
Specifically, that if Pep Guardiola were to depart within the next several years, the Tottenham manager would be a great pick for the Citizens.
In injury time during the first half at the City Ground, Postecoglou’s troops seized the lead. With a well timed pass from Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison scored his third goal in as many games.
Forest thought they had equalised in the 58th minute when Anthony Elanga tapped in, but VAR disallowed the goal after spotting he was ahead of the Spurs defence.
Tottenham then doubled their lead seven minutes later as Kulusevski went from provider to goalscorer, slamming home with an effort that went through Matt Turner’s hands.
Although Tottenham finished the game with ten men after Yves Bissouma was sent off for a lunge on Ryan Yates, Spurs held on for all three points and a clean sheet.
Tottenham started the season superbly, before their form dropped amid a spate of injuries and suspensions. But now, it looks like Spurs have turned a corner.
‘Wow, that is what we want to see’
Postecoglou is clearly the real deal, and Neville suggested he could potentially go on to take over from Guardiola in years to come.
“What he’s done in such a short period of time is quite staggering because he’s not only implemented an idea of play,” he said on Sky Sports at full time.
“When seen from a football perspective, what he has put in place is incredibly intricate and amazing to behold.
“It might take two or three seasons, not just months and 40 or 50 games, to get guys into roles and be like clockwork.
Even at Man City, Pep Guardiola found it challenging to communicate his ideas.
And if Man City were to lose Pep Guardiola in a year or two, you would be staring at Ange Postecoglou and saying, ‘Wow, that is what we want to see.’ Spurs supporters won’t like this, but he is wonderful.”

In terms of their management, Spurs do have a lot going for them that may help them hold off Manchester City.
Tottenham is a well-funded Premier League team based in London. They have a brand-new, cutting-edge stadium and a successful recent record that includes a Champions League final.
Yes, City is a tremendous team that has won a ton of trophies in the last 12 years, but they had to create that. Spurs also have a high potential; all they need is assistance to create something truly amazing.
If that were to occur, why would Postecoglou then try to sign with a rival Premier League team?
