GARY NEVILLE CLAIMS £15M TOTTENHAM PLAYER WAS ‘ELECTRIC’ AGAINST NEWCASTLE UNITED

Pundit Gary Neville has praised Tottenham Hotspur left back Destiny Udogie after an ‘electric’ performance against Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Newcastle United 4-1 in North London on Sunday, returning to their winning ways.

Prior to Richardson hitting a brace, each side of the halftime siren, Destiny Udogie opened the score from close range.

With his fourth goal, Son Heung-min helped Spurs to victory, and even though Newcastle responded, it didn’t dampen the celebration.

Ange Postecoglou will feel relieved, especially after witnessing Tottenham seize the initiative and extend their lead.

During their five-game losing streak, Tottenham did in fact lead every game before losing.

After Udogie’s opening goal, Spurs supporters probably felt a little scared, but Tottenham managed to get the better of Newcastle and win.

Udogie’s performance impressed Gary Neville, and he will be happy to have scored his first Premier League goal.

Speaking on Sky Sports (10/12, 17:55), Neville likened Udogie’s ability to defeat opponents on the inside to that of former Manchester United player Patrice Evra.

Neville praised Udogie’s aggressive play in the first 25 minutes of the game, saying that he was “fantastic” and earned his goal.

In addition, Neville praised Udogie’s play, calling it “electric,” calling him Tottenham’s “bright spark” throughout the first half.

Neville remarked, “Udogie, he’s really good at beating a man on the inside.” “He truly makes me think of Patrice Evra’s days at Manchester United as their left back.”

“They have deserved that, Spurs, and he’s deserved it – Udogie has been fantastic in the first 25 minutes for Spurs. That is the movement of an attacking midfield player, not a left back.”

“Udogie has been the bright spark in this first half, electric to watch from up here,” he added.

Tottenham must be delighted with Udogie and his start to life in the Premier League.

Udogie was signed by Spurs for a mere £15 million in 2022 from Udinese, but was granted permission to spend the previous season on loan with the Serie A team.

Udogie, who is currently Tottenham’s first-choice left back, is shown skill as a defender as well as a forward.

Under Postecoglou, Udogie is developing a new style of left back play that occasionally resembles that of an offensive midfielder.

The goal on Sunday demonstrated Udogie’s progress, and Neville’s compliments further demonstrated how he is becoming better with Premier League experience.
