Report: West Ham now English favourites to sign “beautiful” £22m ace who Newman wanted last year
The Irons are believed to be real contenders.
In comparison to Phil Foden, West Ham United is reportedly “above all” interested in signing a £22 million player.
Steidten’s success at West Ham
At the London Stadium, Tim Steidten, the new technical director, seems to be gaining traction. In fact, the German transfer coordinator was heavily involved in the acquisitions of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, and James Ward-Prowse in the summer, all of whom have so far shown to be rather successful. With five assists in the Premier League this season, Englishman Ward-Prowse is proving to be a valuable asset for boss David Moyes with his vicious right-footed pass.
Kudus has already begun to demonstrate his undeniable talent at West Ham, while Alvarez has received a ton of praise for some of his performances in Claret and Blue.
Steidten’s identifies new West Ham targets
Now, the focus for Steidten is believed to be on signing a new striker. Moyes is desperately short of quality with
just Michail Antonio, who is his preferred senior choice. This season, Danny Ings has only played 68 minutes of league action, and it appears that West Ham’s manager isn’t the biggest fan of the player.
This has given rise to rumors that the east London team is looking to add a new striker. One candidate for West Ham is Adam Hlozek of Bayer Leverkusen, whom Steidten is familiar with from his time there.
West Ham plans to sign a new right-back in January as well, given the uncertainty surrounding Coufal’s future in east London. In the meantime, an Italian report now implies that Irons fans might need to keep a close eye on the potential arrival of a midfield player.
