Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs leading the race for Feyenoord’s Premier League-linked striker Santiago Gimenez, according to one of the Mexico international’s representatives.
Morris Pagniello, a FIFA middleman speaking on behalf of one of Europe’s best number nines, gave a comprehensive rundown of the clubs that have expressed interest in signing Santiago Gimenez in recent months in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.
Apart from Gimenez’s agent confirming Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in August, the striker is being pursued by genuine big-hitters from Spain and Italy.
And for good cause.
Gimenez aided in Feyenoord’s triumph in the Eredivisie last year. The former Cruz Azul star has elevated his game to a whole new level, scoring an incredible 15 goals in his first 11 games of the new season.

Pagniello may believe that Inter and Juventus are Gimenez’s “best options,” but those aren’t the teams leading the way at the moment.Rather, those trophies are owned by the Premier League leaders, led by Ange Postecoglou, and 14-time European champions.
Pagniello continues, “At this point, Real Madrid and Tottenham are the teams closest to him.”

Tottenham, exceptional under Postecoglou so far and unbeaten in nine league games, still feel like a top-class centre-forward away from becoming genuine challengers to Manchester City’s throne. Gimenez, then, could be a ‘final piece of the jigsaw’ sort of addition in the post-Harry Kane era.
