‘WE DON’T’: GRAHAM ROBERTS REACTS AS ARSENAL-SUPPORTING PUNDIT COULD KISS TOTTENHAM BADGE
Graham Roberts has made it clear on Twitter that he doesn’t want Arsenal-supporting pundit Darren Bent kissing the Tottenham badge if he loses a bet with Jermaine Jenas.
Although the former Premier League striker represented Tottenham throughout his playing career, he was raised an Arsenal supporter and has remained a follower of the north London team following his retirement.
Well, Darren Bent recently informed his former teammate Jermaine Jenas on talkSPORT that Martin Odegaard, an Arsenal playmaker, will perform better than James Maddison, a Tottenham playmaker, this season.
The weekend’s north London derby saw the pair square off, with the England international providing two assists.
If the aforementioned doesn’t occur, Bent and Jenas have promised to kiss the Spurs and Arsenal badges, respectively, if Martin Odegaard wins the season’s goal and assist race.
When Graham Roberts, a former Spurs player, learned about it all, he responded on Twitter in a quite direct manner.

“We don’t want Bent kissing the Spurs badge, no thanks,” said Roberts. “Maddison all day long (over) Odegaard.”
Maddison shines in north London derby
Of course, over the evidence of the last 12 months, Odegaard comes out on top because he was one of the best players in the Premier League last season, whilst Maddison failed to stop Leicester City’s relegation.
But during the early stages of the new season, Maddison has probably been better, as his Premier League Player of the Month for August award indicates.
Not only that, he also shone brightest and nabbed himself two assists, including the Man of the Match award, against Arsenal at the Emirates.

On Sunday, Arsenal entered the match against Tottenham as the clear favorite.
Although the Gunners are the more composed team and have superior players, they lost their edge after the first half of play.
Bukayo Saka erred, allowing James Maddison to turn and find Son Heung-min in the box, who converted beautifully, after Cristian Romero’s own goal gave Arsenal the lead.
After Saka took the Gunners the lead once more in the second half, Jorginho produced a mistake that allowed Maddison to find Son, who calmly finished his opportunity.
In response to a question about this during yesterday’s news conference, Mikel Arteta said there is nothing worse than making a mistake and handing the ball to Maddison and Son.
According to Arsenal.com, he stated: “Mistakes and blunders are a part of football; they are unavoidable and do occur. In order for the opponent to spare you punishment, you occasionally need to be lucky when you succeed. The opposite was true.
“Obviously, it cannot get any worse than that when the ball lands to Maddison and they have Son in front of the ball.”
Arsenal can only blame themselves for their Sunday derby loss.
Yes, Tottenham performed well, but the outcome would have been quite different if the Gunners had seized the opportunities that fell to Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus.
Despite how painful the derby was, Arsenal cannot afford to pout. They play Brentford tonight in the Carabao Cup, and many of their players are out due to injury.
The side Arteta names this evening will be intriguing to see.
