Tottenham will be announcing their 25-man senior squad for the Premier League

It won’t be necessary to include Destiny Udogie on Tottenham’s Premier League roster.

The deadline for completing the squad for Tottenham’s first half of the 2023–24 Premier League season is this afternoon.

Following the arrivals and departures from the summer transfer window, each Premier League club will get ready to submit a list of their 25-man roster, with a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players allowed in each team.

Up to the start of the January transfer window, only the players named by Ange Postecoglou and his staff will be permitted to be played in the Premier League.

In order to improve their chances of maintaining their current ranking of second in the league standings, Spurs will have that month to make any changes to their squad and subsequently their squad list that they deem necessary.

There are some players, nevertheless, who are eligible to compete for the club’s senior team while not appearing on the list. A player may play for the senior team without being on the roster as long as they are younger than 21 and were born on or after January 1, 2002.

Harry Kane and James Maddison playing together in a Spurs uniform this season was the fantasy of every Tottenham fan.

The North Londoners’ offense was already very formidable, but with Maddison on board, they became much more potent. He and Kane might have been a fantastic team, but those aspirations were short-lived.

The only place the two of them will play together currently is in the England national team, as Kane left Tottenham approximately six weeks after Maddison joined the team.

Even though he didn’t play last night, Maddison, who appears to be relishing that role, was happy to see his captain score.

Kane scored England’s third goal in their 3-1 win over Scotland. He took to Instagram to celebrate his goal, and Maddison replied using three words.

Maddison is a major contributing factor to Tottenham’s outstanding start to the season.

In four Premier League games since joining the team from Leicester City in the summer, the Englishman has two goals and two assists to his credit. That is an exceptional track record.

But one can’t help but think how much better Richarlison’s stats would have been if Kane had been playing in front of him.

Spurs supporters will never know the answer to that, but given how the team has started the current season, they shouldn’t be dissatisfied.

The wait to see Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou play again is almost over. All club stakeholders would have preferred the fixtures to continue rather than stop for the international break after their 5-2 victory at Burnley in their most recent Premier League game.

A break in action was unfortunately necessary, but the good news is that Spurs will resume play at 3 p.m. on Saturday when they visit Sheffield United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Supporters will be keen to see the Lilywhites put on another devastating display moving forward and perhaps score three more points after wowing in the early weeks of the campaign.

Winners

Ange Postecoglou

After a successful start to the 2023–24 season, Postecoglou has the support of the Tottenham faithful. The Spurs team has adopted his instructions almost immediately and is prospering on the field as a result. Although he always knew it would take time to get his football philosophy over to his players, this hasn’t stopped them from doing so.

The team has the ability to improve more under the 58-year-old once they have fully acclimated to his ways and his management style has become second nature to them, but this is just the beginning. The one setback Postecoglou has had throughout his time at Tottenham is the Carabao Cup elimination at the hands of Fulham, which represented a genuine opportunity to win a trophy.

Postecoglou’s attacking brand of football has gone down so well in N17 and supporters cannot wait to see what comes next in his masterplan.

The centre-backs

At center-back, Cristian Romero and new signing Micky van de Ven have excelled alongside each other and started to build a good understanding that bodes well for the future. the emphasis may be on the attacking players in Postecoglou’s system, but his defense has played a crucial role in their strong start to the season. Romero, who is now one of Spurs’ two vice-captains, has grown as a player under the new head coach and has delivered some defensive masterclassesVan de Ven may only be five games into his Tottenham career but he is already looking like an incredibly smart bit of business by the club. The Dutchman has settled into life in the Premier League extremely well and he is only going to get even better with the more experience he gets under his belt.

Destiny Udogie

Udogie is a different player who already exudes a sense of belonging in the Premier League. The one-year wait to see the left-back in action was well worth it. Fabio Paratici lured the team in August 2022, but he spent last season back on loan with Udinese.

The Italian, who caught the attention of the Lilywhites throughout preseason, has been in incredible form ever since making his Premier League debut away at Brentford. Postecoglou has a star on his hands in the 20-year-old, who is both strong defensively and tremendously impressive offensively.

Yves Bissouma

Another Paratici acquisition, Bissouma was one of the top Premier League midfielders while playing for Brighton & Hove Albion, but Spurs never got the best of him last season for a variety of reasons. Following a three-month injury layoff, Bissouma at least managed to conclude the 2022–23 season on a high note. This season, he has carried over his form from the final three games of the previous term and reached an entirely new level.

Back to his best and demonstrating the form that saw him wow week in, week out on the south coast, the Mali international won the man of the match award in Tottenham’s first two games of the season. An instrumental figure in their positive start to the season, Bissouma has a pivotal role to play in the team’s hopes in 2023/24.

James Maddison

Following an outstanding start to life in a Tottenham shirt, Maddison is already looking like a bargain transfer candidate. The England international simply seems made to play under Postecoglou, who has been without a player of his caliber who can create opportunities in the final third for quite some time.

In his four Premier League outings thus far, the 26-year-old has two goals and two assists to his credit, and those totals can only rise. Maddison is one of the team’s main draws, and Postecoglou has a strong midfield on his hands.

Losers

Eric Dier

Dier hasn’t seen much playing time under Postecoglou so far, despite the fact that this season was always going to be important for the player as he entered the final year of his Tottenham deal. The England international, who joined Spurs from Sporting CP in 2014, was once a lock for the starting lineup, but he hasn’t made the matchday 20 in any of the team’s first five games this season.

Although the head coach’s selection at Burnley would seem to indicate that 18-year-old Ashley Phillips is now ahead of him in the pecking order, it does appear that Davinson Sanchez’s departure to Galatasaray will grant him a reprieve at Tottenham. The upcoming weeks will clearly show where Dier fits into Postecoglou’s Spurs plan.

Richarlison

After such an erratic first season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 2023–24 season signaled a new beginning for the attacker. Richarlison cut a frustrated figure up front in the first four games he played as a striker after Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich because he had few opportunities to score.

The former Everton player, who scored in the Carabao Cup loss at Fulham, was benched at Burnley and had to watch as Son Heung-min, who came in to play through the center, scored a hat trick.Richarlison might now face an extended period on the bench unless Postecoglou wants to bring him back in as a result of the South Korean’s treble, which might really signal bad news for him.

He just needs to get himself on a scoring run to cement his place in the Tottenham team and prove that he can score the goals following Kane’s exit. We’ll have to wait and see if that is the case now that Son has got himself off the mark for the season.

Emerson Royal

Given the nod in the opening game away at Brentford, Emerson had plenty to do down his flank with Brentford attacking a number of times in the first half. He did contribute for Spurs in the final third, however, with a well-taken strike on the cusp of half-time to level things up at 2-2.

The Brazilian appeared to be a lock to start against Manchester United, but was benched as Pedro Porro in and put on an outstanding performance despite concerns about his defensive qualities. The 24-year-old may have to get used to sitting on the sidelines in the league after the 2-0 victory against the Red Devils because his rival is currently truly shining for the Spurs squad.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg, who was previously an important component of the Tottenham midfield, has had to adjust to a new position in N17 this year. In the previous three seasons, the Dane started 109 of their 114 league games, but his single appearance in 2023–24 came in the cup loss at Fulham.

Although he came in as a substitute and helped Spurs win against Man Utd and Bournemouth, he is not getting the regular playing time he requires. has been rumored to leave the club before the summer deadline in order to play consistently somewhere else. With fewer than two years left on his Spurs contract, a move never materialized, and questions still surround him.

Scoring twice over the international break, the ex-Bayern Munich man will be hoping his strong displays for Denmark can change Postecoglou’s thinking.
