Tottenham look to London rivals for greater attacking power

One cap England Super star to join Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur have started life under Ange Postecoglou well and the good times could well be back at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. However, they could be about to get a little bit better if they manage to sign this Crystal Palace winger.

With talks stalling for Brennan Johnson and a move Ansu Fati hijacked by Brighton, Tottenham have turned their attention to Crystal Palace man Eberechi Eze who has impressed ever since his days playing for Queens Park Rangers.

Eze has been on the radar for a while but Tottenham have clearly favoured a move for the Nottingham Forest man Johnson, so this is certainly no panic option even if it does look like a haphazard approach from the London club.

What would Eze bring to Tottenham?

As mentioned Eze has been an impressive player ever since he burst onto the scene with QPR in the Championship. This led to a £17 million move to Palace and he has even managed to get himself an England cap this year under Gareth Southgate.

Although primarily a left winger, Eze is versatile enough to play on the right as well. This season he has been deployed to play in the attacking midfield position just behind the striker. His dribbling ability is what sets him apart from the pack as he does not shy away from trying to be an old-fashioned winger by running at his man and trying to beat him; something Spurs would benefit from on the counter.

Eze’s gliding nature, like he showed against Sheffield United in 2020/21 season, makes him a real delight to watch and his ability to show composure in front of goal could ease the workload on Richarlison and Son.

How much would Eze cost Spurs?

The deal will not be a cheap one for Spurs but with the Harry Kane money that Spurs have benefitted from then the deal could be a real coup.

Palace will not want to lose one of their key men easily and they are expected to demand a deal ranging between £40 million and £60 million. With an English premium, this could be a fantastic deal for Spurs and one they should not shy away from.

Can a deal be struck before the deadline that is yet to be seen but Spurs will have to get their skates on if they are to get this one over the line.
