Leeds United are said to be looking at a £30million swoop for Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City this summer, ending his nightmare since leaving Elland Road in 2022.
When Leeds and Kalvin Phillips took separate paths in the summer of 2022, a £45million agreement looked to be benefitting both parties.
Since then, that has not been the case with Leeds relegated without their midfield talisman, and Phillips struggling immensely at both Man City and West Ham on loan.

Phillips to Leeds “gathering pace” at £30million deal – Report
Dreadful form for the former Leeds midfielder has cost him a place in the England squad ahead of Euro 2024, and off the back of his shocker away at Newcastle, transfer speculation was sparked with Phillips.
The Daily Mail relayed reports this week that Leeds are looking to sign £30million man Phillips from Man City when his London Stadium loan concludes in the summer:

Leeds would be wasting a lot of money on Phillips in the summer
There’s a lot of hypotheticals being thrown around with regards to Leeds possibly signing Phillips: “if he gets back to fitness” and “if we find his best form” being the main justification from the optimistic and sentimental Leeds fans wanting him back.
However, you cannot spend £30million on a player whose upturn in performance relies solely on a couple of huge ‘ifs’ – a fee that would be Leeds’ second-highest spend ever.
Phillips hasn’t produced a ‘BielsaBall’ worthy performance ever since El Loco departed from Elland Road in February 2022, so expecting that to happen in a completely different system under Daniel Farke would be naive to say the least.
The midfielder’s confidence is shot and Leeds shouldn’t be spending that much money on a player that will need months to get remotely close to his best form again, we don’t have that margin for error.
