Postecoglou ‘captivated’ and ready to spend Tottenham millions to sign ‘absolutely ridiculous’ attacker

Tottenham are reportedly ready to accelerate talks to make Club Brugge forward Antonio Nusa their final signing of the January window – and one journalist has revealed just how obsessed Ange Postecoglou is on signing the teenage star.

Spurs have arguably been the most active Premier League side this transfer window, swooping quickly to sign Timo Werner on loan with a view to a permanent move from RB Leipzig on January 9. Tottenham were then able to further boost their squad with the addition of top defender Radu Dragusin, paying Genoa a fee rising to €30m and even seeing off a late approach from Bayern Munich.

While Postecoglou can certainly take some satisfaction from his January dealings so far, it seems the Spurs boss is far from finished assembling his squad and it’s claimed a third and final transfer splash could well be on the cards before the transfer window closes on Thursday February 1 (11pm).

Indeed, the Aussie boss would still like to add to his midfield and wants to bring in a more dynamic box-to-box

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has fallen down the ladder, will be replaced by a midfielder.

Conor Gallagher of Chelsea would be his dream addition, but TEAMtalk can tell that the England midfielder has made it plain that he plans to stay precisely where he is at the moment, despite Tottenham’s best efforts.

Now that it looks like the door has closed, Postecoglou is concentrating on stepping up his offense and recruiting a forward to expand his options.

In light of this, Spurs have been heavily connected to Club Brugge star Nusa in recent days. This season, the adolescent sensation wowed Belgian crowds with his divine abilities.

Postecoglou determined to bring Antonio Nusa to Tottenham

Spurs are apparently in the initial stages of negotiations with the Belgians regarding a potential signing of the 18-year-old winger, who is valued at approximately €30 million (£25.8 million).

With four caps already under his belt, the Norwegian is considered one of the game’s best prospects, and Spurs are by no means his only admirers considering how quickly he is rising to prominence.

According to sources this week, Newcastle is making every effort to attempt and sabotage the trade. They consider the player as the perfect replacement for Miguel Almiron, who has been the target of an approach from Al-Shabab, a Saudi Arabian football team.

However, it’s reported that Postecoglou is determined not to let Nusa slip from Tottenham’s grasp and the Aussie has now instructed Daniel Levy to step up those talks to try and reach an agreement over the deal.

Tottenham had also been keeping a close watch on Norwich’s brilliant young star Jonathan Rowe, but in-the-know journalist Dean Jones has explained Postecoglou will do all he can to seal a deal for Nusa before the

window closes.

“Tottenham may be thinking about Rowe in the long run. Jones told Givemesport, “I’d be surprised if they wanted that for the here and now. It feels too early to sign Rowe if you expect him to make an impact.”

“I’ve heard a lot more about Nusa, and I know that they’ve been enthralled by his play recently. This man has a genuine work rate about him in addition to his incredibly incredible ball skills.

“Given his age, he has the potential to be tailored to Postecoglou’s preferences for a front-line player in the future.”

Tottenham chances of transfer revealed

Although Jones says it won’t be considered a disaster if Spurs are able to work out a deal that would see the star move to N17 over the summer, Spurs are still want to sign Nusa this month.

It is unclear how that will be accomplished—by agreeing to a transfer early or by striking a deal to keep him on loan in Belgium for the time being.

In any case, Jones says negotiations are still going on in an attempt to get to a consensus.

Thus, the talks will continue to be reported. It’s not a catastrophe if it doesn’t occur during this window because that wasn’t the original plan. However, given that they would have a player like that for the upcoming season, it would have been preferable to have finished sooner.

Nusa isn’t the only new attacker Tottenham are targeting, with Postecoglou also looking to bring in Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, with the Dutch striker also on Arsenal and Manchester United’s radar.
