Paul Merson makes Tottenham title prediction with ‘unbelievable’ target up for grabs
Former midfielder believes focus should still be a top-four finish
Despite their stellar start to the season, Paul Merson predicts that Tottenham will not win the Premier League.
Even if Spurs lose their early lead at the top of the table, the former Arsenal midfielder has explained why they should still be able to have a “unbelievable” debut season under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham led the table going into the international break after defeating North London rivals Arsenal 1-0 at Luton.
He described the game at Kenilworth Road for Sky Sports, saying, “It was a funny game.”

Despite their Sunday loss at Arsenal, Merson is certain that Manchester City is still the side to beat, saying it was a positive development for the league overall.
The 55-year-old continued, “You look at their squad and it is much bigger than everyone else’s.”
“This season, the league champion will be the team that finishes higher than Man City.” It is impossible for two or three teams to place higher than them.
“For Arsenal, it was an unbelievable result,” he continued. In addition, it benefits the league because it includes a tonne of teams besides Arsenal.
