Brentford boss Thomas Frank has agreed a deal to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, journalist Jake Sanders has revealed.

The Danish tactician is reportedly close to becoming Ange Postecoglou’s successor in North London after the Australian was sacked last week, despite guiding Spurs to a Europa League triumph.

Frank is now set to end his seven-year spell with Brentford, though the two clubs have yet to agree on compensation for the 51-year-old’s departure.

It is believed a deal for Frank, praised as ‘one of the best managers’, could cost Spurs around £10m, as he has two years remaining on his contract with the Bees.

Postecoglou departed Tottenham following their dismal domestic campaign, which saw the North London club finish 17th in the table – their lowest-ever Premier League finish.

Frank will be tasked with overseeing a significant improvement in the league after Postecoglou recorded a club-record 22 league defeats and just 11 wins.

The Danish coach is now expected to become the fourth permanent Spurs boss in as many years, having emerged as the front-runner ahead of fellow Premier League managers Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola.

The 51-year-old, who joined Brentford in 2018, guided the Bees to a 10th-placed finish this season – their second top-half finish in the last three years.

It is believed Frank would like to bring his top goalscorer Bryan Mbeumo with him to Spurs this summer, though a deal for the Cameroonian may prove difficult.

The 25-year-old is giving priority to a move to Manchester United, with club-to-club talks ongoing over his potential summer switch to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo enjoyed a career-best season under Frank in the Premier League, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists in 38 appearances.
