The Amakhosi tactician is confident his center-back will hit greater heights at the club once he realises his full potential.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Former Cape Town Spurs defender Rushwin Dortley is among the new players signed by Kaizer Chiefs in the most recent Premier Soccer League transfer window.
The 22-year-old was brought in to help improve the Glamour Boys’ defence that was struggling for stability.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Since joining Amakhosi, Dortley has featured in all seven competitive games played by the Soweto Giants across all competitions.
He has kept his counterpart Thatayaone Ditlhokwe out of the starting XI.
Dortley played all six matches as South Africa qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations without tasting defeat in Group K.
Despite his exploits, coach Nasreddine Nabi insists the young defender has not yet realised his full potential.
WHAT NABI SAID
“Dortley is a big player but has the potential for progression,” the former AS FAR Rabat coach stated.
“He has a big potential, a good personality, a very good education, and is a lovely guy, but I’m sure he is in 60%, 70% for his performance if he gives more.
“I’m happy for his recruitment, a big thank you to the [Chiefs] committee for his recruitment,” Nabi concluded.
WHAT NEXT?
Chiefs have gone nine seasons without winning a trophy, but the project initiated this season looks promising.
Dortley has to continue developing by giving his best from training to the pitch which will help him achieve his dream of playing abroad.

Having started all Kaizer Chiefs games this season after arriving from TS Galaxy, Ntwari suffered an injury while playing for Rwanda against Nigeria a fortnight ago.
The club’s head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, has since given an update to say Ntwari has recovered.
“Ntwari came back from the national team slightly injured, but he returned to training two days ago [Saturday],” Nabi told journalists on Monday.
“Between the three keepers, it’s open. We need the competition between the three, it’s open and we will take the best decision based on their performance,” concluded the Kaizer Chiefs mentor.

“After 25 days without competitive action due to the November FIFA International break and the League Cup final, Kaizer Chiefs will be back in action next Wednesday, 27 November 2024, when they welcome Richards Bay to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
“The game will be followed by another home fixture at the same venue when Amakhosi host another KwaZulu-Natal based side, Royal AM, three days later.
“Amakhosi will need to pick up maximum points from the two home games as they want to ensure that they collect as many points as possible and improve their position of the log standings.
“The Glamour Boys have collected seven points in five league games, while the Natal Rich Boys have picked up five points after seven matches. Chiefs are 8th and Richards Bay are 12th on the Betway Premiership log.
“Coach Nasreddine Nabi is expected to be back in the dugout after missing last weekend’s Home of Legends friendly tournament in Gqeberha due to an operation. Chiefs won the tournament after beating Lamontville Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.
“Going to Polokwane, Chiefs will be without defender Inacio Miguel, who picked up a red card in the last official game against Mamelodi Sundown, which was their Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal at FNB Stadium at the beginning of the month.
“With the Fiacre Ntwari and Rushwin Dortley returning from international duty, the medical team will assess them as soon as they rejoin their teammates. This is mainly because Ntwari was substituted in the Rwanda vs Nigeria match after picking up an injury.
