Rassie Erasmus supports Siya Kolisi as captain deals with divorce – report

 Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus is reportedly supporting Siya Kolisi who announced his divorce on Tuesday, 22 October.

Siya Kolisi will reportedly have Rassie Erasmus’ support when the Springboks heads north amid his divorce.

This comes after the Kolisis announced they are splitting on Tuesday, 22 October.

RASSIE ERASMUS IN SIYA KOLISI’S CORNER 

IOL reports that Rachel and Siya Kolisi’s divorce announcement came after coach Rassie Erasmus revealed the 34-man squad for the United Kingdom tour. The team will face Scotland, England, and Wales this November.

The publication adds that Kolisi may have met with Erasmus to reassure him [Erasmus] that he’s in the right frame of mind to play in November.

It is believed the Springboks captain may have also met with Erasmus to discuss his marital situation before the squad announcement.

Erasmus also made headlines in May when it was reported that he and wife, Nicolene are divorcing after 20 years

 KOLISIS CONFIRM DIVORCE

The rugby player Siya and businesswoman Rachel Kolisi announced in a statement on Instagram that they have mutually decided to end their marriage eight years later.

“We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage.”

“This decision comes from a place of love, respect and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us. While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known.”

They have a first son, Nicholas Siyamthanda, who was born in 2015 and a daughter named Keziah, who was born in 2017.

Wedding Etc reports that Siya’s young half-siblings Liyema and Liphelo also live with the family. The Springboks captain and siblings share a mother who unfortunately passed away in 2009.

The African National Congress’s (ANC) secretary general, Fikile Mbalula appears to be shading the Kolisis who announced their divorce on social media on Tuesday, 22 October.

FIKILE MBALULA: ‘WHAT IF WE DISAGREE?’

Fikile Mbalula tweeted about couples ending their marriage on social media in a since deleted post on X.

He wrote on Thursday: “You announce your marriage separation on X, what if we disagree with your act? Because you are inviting us to your own private relationship. Of which we were not there in the first place. Only your families were involved.”

Is Mbalula referring to Siya and Rachel Kolisi who announced their divorce on social media on this past Tuesday?

THE KOLISIS SPLIT

Siya Kolisi and Rachel announced in a statement on Instagram that they have mutually decided to end their marriage.

The Kolisis met at a dinner party in Stellenbosch back in 2012 and tied the knot on 13 August 2016 in a beautiful ceremony in Franschhoek

Siya and Rachel are also raising his young half-siblings Liyema and Liphelo.
