I tried to bring him over to Yanga – Nabi verdict on Kaizer Chiefs striker
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed he tried to bring in striker Ranga to Yanga a couple of seasons ago
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed he tried to bring in striker Ranga Chivaviro over to Yanga SC a couple of seasons ago.
The 31-year-old big striker was a wanted man during his Marumo Gallants days where he helped the team reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup. The Limpopo-born forward impressed Nabi that season when Yanga eliminated Gallants in the semis.
Since arriving at Kaizer Chiefs in July, Nabi has preferred Chivaviro as his main striker. Although the ex-Gallants star only netted four goals last season, he has looked sharp under the Tunisian tactician.
“Ranga… you know, it’s true [I tried to sign him] at that moment I had Fiston Mayele, and I knew he was going to leave and we looked [for strikers] and in CAF, Nabi said as per iDiski Times. “We played Marumo Gallants, he had two very good games.”
NABI HAS PUT FAITH ON HIS KAIZER CHIEFS STRIKER CHIVAVIRO
“I think for that [performances] Kaizer Chiefs signed him, because his agent talked and said no, no, go to [Chiefs] not Tanzania.
“Yes, I know there’s progress, but Ranga needs to work more, more confidence, specific work in the finishing. I think he’s made progress but he needs another striker with him, because if there’s two you progress more.”
Since Nabi arrived at Kaizer Chiefs, the Tunisian has preferred Ranga as his main striker, leaving out Ashley Du Preez. His faith in the forward has finally paid off after just three games.
