Contract:
- Japanese manufacturer commits to five years racing with its GR Supra car
- Toyota will field a minimum of four cars, two of which will be with Walkinshaw Andretti United
- A second partner team will be announced in due course
Context:
This move adds yet another major championship to the Toyota stable, as the marque already competes in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the World Rally Championship (WRC). The company also supplies 23XI Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Legacy Motor Club in the Nascar Cup Series.
Toyota will join Ford and Chevrolet when it enters the series, replicating the current lineup of manufacturers in the Nascar Cup Series. Ahead of the brand’s debut, the Toyota GR Supra will be on display at next month’s Bathurst 1000.
