Kaizer Chiefs have had a busy transfer window, but seem to be on the look out for more additions.

As it stands, Chiefs have added seven players to their roster with at least two more reportedly targeted.

CHIEFS HAVE NOT BOLSTERED THEIR STRIKING DEPARTMENT

It has been mainly the defensive areas that Chiefs have strengthened so far in the current transfer window. The first addition being Bongani Sam from archrivals Orlando Pirates. He was quickly followed by the duo of Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari. There was then finally an attacking signing in Gaston Sirino. The Uruguayan arriving at Naturena as a free agent after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs then returned to their defence with the signings of Inacio Miguel from Petro de Luanda and Bradley Cross. Amakhosi are believed to have triggered the R3 million release clause in the 23-year-olds deal at Golden Arrows. Their latest signing was the return of prodigal son Njabulo Blom on loan from St Louis City. After following out of favour for the Major League Soccer side, he is set to add some steel to the Glamour Boys’ midfield.

But one position Chiefs set out to bolster but have not done so thus far, has been the striking department. After several high profile links, the club are yet to finalise a move for a marksman of the standard required. Now according to reports a former star and their last hit striker in Samir Nurkovic yearns for a return.

According to a source speaking to The Citizen, Nurkovic believes he has unfinished business at Chiefs.

NURKOVIC DREAMING OF A RETURN

“He (Nurkovic) still believes that he has unfinished business with Chiefs. The player loves the club and their supporters. He would jump at an opportunity to play for Chiefs again,” said the source.

Nurkovic would be available to Chiefs for free after leaving TS Galaxy recently. Amakhosi fans, would you take ‘Kokota Piano’ back at Naturena?

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to extinguish an outside chance of a transfer for Kaizer Chiefs after the latest!

Both Sundowns and Chiefs have been busy in the current transfer market, with more signings mooted, however.

CHIEFS WERE INTERESTED IN KEKANA

So far, Sundowns have signed five quality players who add to an already incredibly gifted squad. They have added to their roster the likes of Kabomelo Kodisang, Arthur Sales, Asekho Tiwani, Kegan Johannes and Iqraam Rayners. Chiefs have added to their squad. Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Bradley Cross and Njabulo Blom. 

That list above for Chiefs features two centre-backs, in the shape of Dortley and Miguel. However, at some point in the window, it was believed they were monitoring Grant Kekana’s Sundowns situation. It was reported that the Bafana Bafana international and his employers were not failing to agree on terms for a new deal. It is believed length and salary were the main sticking point. That standoff saw the player eyeing Amakhosi as a possible alternative.

Kekana had pre-season with Sundowns, however, and has figured in their side ever since. Now according to SABC Sport, he is set to be rewarded with a new deal. This new long-term deal will surely scupper and chance of Chiefs getting his signature.

SET TO STAY AT SUNDOWNS, HOWEVER

“SABC Sport has established that Mamelodi Sundowns and defender Grant Kekana have entered into an agreement over a long-term contract to keep the Bafana Bafana star at Chloorkop beyond June 2026. The two parties have been involved in ongoing discussions for several months now on the back of Kekana being crowned the Defender of the Season at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, the two parties have since agreed a deal over a long-term contract with an announcement to be made by Downs at a later stage.” Wrote the publication.
