Big Blow: Kaizer Chiefs Star Set to Miss Next key matches
Kaizer Chiefs teenage sensation Mfundo Vilakazi could miss the club’s key matches against AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns in the coming weeks.
Kaizer Chiefs teenage sensation Mfundo Vilakazi is set to miss several matches due to U/20 commitments.
The 18-year-old has been included in the South African U20 Men’s national team ahead of the Cosafa Cup. Vilakazi scored the winner in Chiefs’ 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants this past weekend in their first Betway Premiership match of the season.
Vilakazi has been a star for the junior team and might miss Kaizer Chiefs’ mouthwatering encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns. Amajita coach Raymond Mdaka has included the Amakhosi teenager in his squad for the tournament.
“Although some clubs failed to release the players we requested for this important tournament, I believe we have selected a strong quality squad and will be able to achieve our objectives,” Mdaka said via Safa Media.
Kaizer Chiefs to miss Vilakazi?
“Our objective for the Cosafa Championships was clear from the day I came into office. We must go to the 2025 U20 Fifa World Cup, and to do so, we need to be in the top two of the Championships.
“We are grateful to all the clubs who have released their players, and we will ensure that we accomplish the mission at hand;” he concluded as per GOAL.
Mfundo Vilakazi has been one of the players to watch at Kaizer Chiefs since he was promoted to the first team last season. He has often been criticised for showboating but Saturday’s goal proved the youngster can also help the team.
Kaizer Chiefs take on AmaZulu next week before their big clash with Sundowns.
