Kaizer Chiefs’ Director Motaung admits searching for a forward with a few quality strikers available.

Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has openly acknowledged the club’s ongoing search for a striker. This admission highlights the club’s urgent need for a prolific hitman to bolster their attack.

Fagrie Lakay’s price tag and potential move to Cleopatra Ceramica

Insights reveal that Fagrie Lakay, currently with Pyramids FC, has been linked with a move away from the Egyptian club. Reports suggest that Lakay, who has been a target for Chiefs, is involved in a proposed loan and swap deal with Cleopatra Ceramica. This deal also includes three other players moving to Pyramids FC in exchange for Nigerian forward Sadiq Awujoola. However, Egyptian publication KingFut reports that Lakay is reluctant to move to Cleopatra Ceramica, raising questions about Chiefs’ potential bid for the striker.

Chiefs’ budget constraints: Is Lakay out of reach?

Sources indicate that Kaizer Chiefs face significant financial barriers in pursuing Lakay. The DR Congo striker earns approximately $600,000 (R10.5 million) annually at Pyramids FC, though some reports suggest his actual salary is higher. Chiefs are currently unable to meet Lakay’s salary expectations or the hefty transfer fee required, given that the player has one year remaining on his contract with the Cairo-based club.

Former Chiefs forward available

TS Galaxy has officially parted ways with former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic just hours before the Betway Premiership season kicks off.

Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi confirmed Nurkovic’s unexpected departure to SABC Sport on Friday. Sukazi stated that the split happened by mutual consent. However, he chose not to disclose all the details surrounding Nurkovic’s exit from the club.

He scored nine goals in 10 starts, a performance Kaizer Chiefs urgently needs. Will they reach out and bring him back? Only time will tell.
