West Brom’s £29.8m Best Starting XI Based Purely on Player ‘Market Values
West Brom had a fairly satisfactory summer transfer window despite having to work with the EFL over a business plan.
As summer transfers windows go, Baggies supporters came out of it happy with the business that their club did. Mikey Johnston following a successful loan spell during the second-half of last season returned for £3m, despite there being interest from Burnley and Sheffield United.
Mason Holgate also returned to the Hawthorns, joining on a season-long loan from Everton. Money was made from player sales too with Brandon Thomas-Asante, Conor Townsend and Okay Yokusl sold to Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Trabzonspor.
The transfer window is now shut but after WBA submitted their squad list to the EFL, there’s space for one more signing. It was reported by WestBromXtra that bids for Ali Al-Hamadi and David Datro Fofana were made, and so perhaps a striker is on the agenda for Carlos Corberan.
West Brom are currently fourth after picking up three wins and a draw in their first round of fixtures before the international break, and so there might not be a need to do business in the free agent market. Daryl Dike who has suffered two successive Achilles injuries is closing in on a return, and there will be a hope that he can live up to the expectations.
WBA have squad depth now, and it’s going to be hard for Corberan to choose a team given the quality at his disposal. He’s not got any cup competitions to worry about until January, and so it’s full steam ahead in their pursuit of bettering last season’s fifth-placed finish.
In a 4-2-3-1 formation, where some players are deployed in different positions as to where they’d usually play, here’s West Brom’s most valuable starting XI according to TransferMarkt.
