Kaizer Chiefs have reunited with utility player Njabulo Blom, who returns to the Club after his recent stint with St. Louis City FC in the United States.
Blom, a talented and versatile footballer, has signed a one-year loan deal with Amakhosi and will once again don the famous Gold and Black jersey.
The 24-year-old began his professional career with Kaizer Chiefs’ Youth Development Academy before making senior team debut after being promoted in 2019.
He left Amakhosi in January 2023 to play in America’s Major League Soccer (MLS) with St. Louis City. His time abroad has further developed his skills on the field, showcasing his ability to play multiple positions and contribute both defensively and in the midfield.
Commenting on the re-signing of Blom, Kaizer Chiefs’ Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. said,: “We are excited to welcome Njabulo back to the team. His experience in the MLS and his familiarity with our Club ethos make him a valuable addition to our squad. We look forward to seeing his impact on the field because we know how valuable he is to our game model.”
Blom expressed his own excitement about returning to Amakhosi. “I am delighted to be back at Kaizer Chiefs, a Club that holds a special place in my heart,” he said.
“I look forward to working with the team and contributing to our success under Coach Nasreddine Nabi. The support from the fans has always motivated me, and I can’t wait to play in front of the Khosi nation again.”

KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK
The club has brought in a pair of left-backs, two central defenders, a holding midfielder in the shape of loan signing Njabulo Blom, playmaker Gaston Sirino and goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. As a result, players in those positions will naturally be fretting about their status in the squad. Who’s likely to leave?
BRANDON PETERSEN
High-profile R5.5 million arrival Fiacre Ntwari will expect game time in between the sticks. His likeliest competitor for the role is Bruce Bvuma. Although Petersen extended his contract recently, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Chiefs punting him to interested suitors.
ZITHA KWINIKA
Amazingly, former Swallows man Kwinika is the only remaining player in the Chiefs squad who was with the club when they won the league in 2015. Just a season of saved wages in Kwinika’s case amounts to R4.44 million, or R370k a month. A loan spell away could be best for all parties, considering the huge strength in depth at centre-back. Kwinika will be behind Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel in the pecking order.
HAPPY MASHIANE
With Bradley Cross and Bongani Sam arriving, Mashiane’s chances of game time are remote. His versatility has often been his downfall and an exit is imminent.
GEORGE MATLOU
A talented operator with plenty of fans among the support base, unfortunately, Matlou has never had the opportunity to showcase his skills for extended periods.
SABELO RADEBE
24-year-old attacking midfielder Radebe has hardly featured for the club, making only 18 appearances across all competitions since joining in 2021. A loan move away is likely with two top-flight sides keen to draft him into their squad. He made 10 league appearances in 2021-2022 but only three outings in the two subsequent campaigns.
CHRISTIAN SAILE
In 50 appearances for Chiefs across all competitions, Saile has managed a modest tally of seven goals and four assists. He’s been deployed primarily in a wide attacking role on the right-hand side and is a selfless team player who runs the channels diligently, so the direct output of goals and assists isn’t the most accurate way to gauge his contribution.
