Kaizer Chiefs Make Fresh Offer For Utility Star as Deal Set to Materialise

Kaizer Chiefs have made a fresh improved offer for Stellenbosch star, but what is the clubs response after the new bid?

Kaizer Chiefs make fresh offer for Stellenbosch utility star, according to Soccer Laduma.

Chiefs have ramped up their efforts to sign Stellies defender Fawaaz Basadien, making a new and improved offer for the left-back. Despite Chiefs’ increased bid, Stellenbosch FC has chosen to reject the proposal, according to the player’s agent. This rejection highlights the ongoing negotiations between the two clubs, as Chiefs aim to secure a crucial addition to their defensive lineup.

Why Stellenbosch are holding onto Basadien

Reports indicate that the latest offer from Kaizer Chiefs is quite close to Stellenbosch FC’s asking price but still falls short of what the club is willing to accept. Sources close to Amakhosi reveal that despite the rejection, Chiefs are determined not to give up on acquiring Basadien. They are exploring alternative options, including AmaZulu FC left-back Riaan Hanamub, but Basadien remains their top target.

A source familiar with the situation explained, “Chiefs are not giving up on Fawaaz (Basadien). They have made another offer, but once again it has been rejected by Stellies. From what we know, it’s a much better offer from Chiefs and very close to what Stellenbosch wants. However, Stellenbosch is hesitant to lose another key player, especially given their recent player departures.”

The source elaborated, “Stellenbosch has already lost Iqraam Rayners and Deano Van Rooyen. Losing Basadien now would be a significant blow to their squad. The club is not only evaluating the financial aspect but also considering the impact of potentially losing a third top player. It’s a tough decision for them, and while it may seem like they are being difficult, they are actually weighing their options carefully.”

Agent confirms Chiefs’ offer, keeps figures confidential

Fawaaz Basadien’s agent, Basia Michaels, has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs made a new offer for the defender but declined to reveal the specifics of the offer. Michaels stated, “Stellies have rejected Chiefs’ offer, yes. The figure is something I wouldn’t want to confirm as it’s causing a stir.”
