Confirmed: West Ham Has Finally Agreed to Sign Roma Striker on Initial Loan, Deal is now 88% to Complete
England International striker Tammy Abraham is on the verge of signing for West Ham United on an initial loan in the final few days of the transfer window, according to a report from Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Rome-based paper claims that the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement over an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy. The whole transfer package is reportedly worth €22m-23m. On paper, this would be a very good deal for a striker that was linked with a £70m return to the Premier League just a couple of years ago after thriving in his first season in Rome.
However, since then Tammy has suffered a lot of injury problems. The Englishman suffered a cruciate ligament injury in June 2023, keeping him out till March 2024. He missed 40 matches as Roma finished sixth in Serie A.
He went on to make 12 appearances, mainly as a substitute in the final couple of months of the season scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist.
This season, the 6’4 striker has continued to be a bit-part player for Daniele De Rossi in the opening couple of fixtures. He came on in the 90th minute in Roma’s Serie A opener against Cagliari, as they drew 0-0 at the Sardegna Arena.
The striker was an unused substitute in Roma’s 2-1 loss to Empoli on Sunday. Despite the Giallorossi going two goals down in the second half, Daniele De Rossi brought on Eldor Shomurodov rather than Abraham, suggesting that a move for the ex-Chelsea striker is close to happening.
Similarly to the midfield position. the Hammers need to move on a forward before signing another. Reports suggest the club are open to offers for both Maxwel Cornet and Danny Ings. If the club were able to move at least one of them on, a move for Abraham or another striker could become more likely.
However. The West Ham Way have reported that to this date, a move for Tammy Abraham seems very unlikely.
