Kaizer chiefs

‘I don’t care what people say’ – Kaizer Chiefs star voice out.

“People who have been criticising me will be praising me, saying: ‘Mfundo must go play overseas’,” said Chiefs teen Vilakazi

Kaizer Chiefs teenager Mfundo Vilakazi has hit back following criticism he received for his flamboyant playing style.

The 18-year-old has been critised by pundits and some footballers for his showboating. Vilakazi impressed for Amakhosi in the DSTV Diski Challenge last year which forced ex-Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson to promote him to the first team.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ MFUNDO VILAKAZI NOT BOTHERED BY CRITICISM

“Usually, I don’t read comments on social media,” Vilakazi said as per FARPost.

“So I don’t think [criticism] affected me or hurt me because I don’t care what people say as long as the coach is happy and the team as well.”

Mfundo Vilakazi played in Kaizer Chiefs’ 4-0 loss to Young Africans last month. The teen was flamboyant as usual however he received a backlash during and after the game. The 18-year-old though says he does take criticism as a motivation.

“I’m saying this because the very same people who are talking, the league is starting soon, and I will score, and the people who have been criticising me will be praising me, saying: ‘Mfundo(Vilakazi) must go play overseas’, and all that,” said the Chiefs star.

“They would have forgotten that we played against Young Africans, and I dribbled, and they criticised me. So I take criticism as motivation to work extra hard, and if they praise me, I must continue with the good work.”

Mfundo Vilakazi has left Kaizer Chiefs camp and is now with the SA Under-20 side. Amajita will play Lesotho on Sunday as they prepare for the 2024 COSAFA U-20 Championships
