‘He’s tough’: Guglielmo Vicario says he’s been really impressed with Tottenham player who’s started just four games

Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario has delivered his verdict on one of his teammates who hasn’t played many games for Spurs.

Recently, the north Londoners have had great success with recruitment. Nearly every signing they’ve made since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou has performed well.

Although Vicario has undoubtedly been the team’s best player, he has recently heaped praise on a new signing from Tottenham despite the player’s little playing time.

Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario shares what Radu Dragusin is really like

In January 2024, Radu Dragusin moved from Genoa to Tottenham.

Throughout his tenure in Serie A, the Romanian international was among the league’s most impressive center backs. Spurs were impressed by his performances and fought hard to acquire him.

Dragusin has played just 424 minutes of football since joining Tottenham. Only four of his nine club outings have come from the starting position.

The agent for the 22-year-old made some irate remarks as a result, pleading with Postecoglou to modify his system to let Dragusin into his team.

Dragusin did play the entire ninety minutes in each of Tottenham’s final two Premier League games, but that was never going to happen.

Goalie Guglielmo Vicario, who was involved in those matches, has expressed his admiration for the Romanian’s toughness and mentality.

“Everyone of those lads (centre-backs) is outstanding,” he told Football London. Although each player has a unique set of skills, they have all performed exceptionally well this season.

Micky and Cuti have played a little bit more, but Radu joined the team in January. He’s a very good boy who aspires to do better and is tough. He has a positive outlook.

Dragusin needs to come to terms with one thing

Radu Dragusin is a very, very good defender, there is no debate there.

The Romanian international is very strong in tackles, combative while not in possession of the ball, and proficient with it. He has good positioning, and he has amazing aerial skills.

He’s only 22 years old, thus in the upcoming years, he will only get better.

Dragusin has very little chance of replacing Harry Kane as Tottenham’s starting central defender anytime soon, though. He’s nowhere near as good as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Dragusin might have to accept that for the foreseeable future, Tottenham will only use him as a backup.

In the event that Romero or Van de Ven are ever unavailable during the upcoming season, he ought to be prepared to step in and display his class.
