Spring football is over and transfer portal additions essentially are and here’s where Michigan football ranks in the latest Big Ten power rankings after the spring.
The 2024 Michigan football season is just a few months away. Frankly, as far away as it seems, it will be here before we know it.
Michigan football has undergone a ton of changes since winning the 2023 national championship. The Wolverines have a new head coach, they will also have a new offensive coordinator, a new defensive coordinator, a new special teams coordinator, a new strength coach, and a new quarterback.
The cupboard isn’t empty, though. Sherrone Moore will continue to be involved in all aspects of the program as head coach, along with Kirk Campbell, the new offensive coordinator who was the quarterbacks coach the previous two seasons and has been instrumental in developing the system.
things is difficult to predict with certainty how things will turn out.It’s hard to envision Michigan not being able to run the ball, and the defense should be excellent. However, if opponents can fill the box without repercussions, it can make things tough for the quarterback.
But, Michigan football was ranked in the top 10 by ESPN in their post-spring power rankings and according to Jesse Simonton of On3.com and his Big Ten power rankings, the Wolverines should be a viable contender for the Once more, the Big Ten title, especially after additional reinforcements were acquired for the secondary through the transfer site.
In the post-spring power rankings, Michigan football came in third place, behind Oregon at number two and Ohio State at number one.Simonton wrote the following regarding the Wolverines:
Up to four guys were ostensibly still vying for the starting quarterback position as the Wolverines concluded the spring with a quarterback controversy. Nevertheless, Sherman Moore’s team was among the top picks in the spring because Michigan was able to hold onto quality players such UNLV cornerback Ricky Johnson and Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, and Will Johnson, all of whom were later selected in the first round.”
