Goodnews,:Kentucky lands another sharpshooting transfer with the commitment of Ansley Almonor

Fairleigh Dickinson forward Ansley Almonor announced his commitment to Kentucky following his official visit.

Kentucky added a key component to its roster on Thursday morning as Fairleigh Dickinson forward Ansley Almonor made the call and committed to the Wildcats.

Following his formal visit to Kentucky this week, Almonor made his pledge.

Almonor, a 6-foot-7 forward, finished the previous season with averages of 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Thirty-one games were begun by him.But his shooting ability is the strongest aspect of his offensive repertoire as a whole. He made 93 3-pointers in all last year, shooting 39.4 percent from three.

He tied the record for the most 3-pointers made in a single season at FDU with 93.

Throughout his three seasons at FDU, he has made 180 of his career three-pointers, shooting 38.5 percent overall. During his two years as a full-time starter, he has averaged 2.5 made 3-pointers per game and made 168 3-pointers in total.

Kentucky was looking for additional perimeter shooting, especially from the forward spot. That’s exactly what Mark Pope got in Almonor.

In addition to being a versatile wing player, Almonor can also play the small-ball 4 position, which will present various matchup challenges for opposing teams.

Almonor joins Amari Williams, Brandon Garrison, and Andrew Carr, all of whom bring radically different skill sets, to solidify Kentucky’s front court.

He is still eligible for one more year.

Almonor is Mark Pope and Kentucky’s eighth commitment via the transfer portal.

There are currently two scholarships available for Kentucky, and Pope knows just how he wants to use them.
