Karren Brady breaks silence on West Ham managerial decision, shares what Moyes really felt

Karren Brady claims both David Moyes and West Ham United believed it was “the right time to make a change” ahead of the manager’s departure this summer.

Moyes is set to step down at the end of the season when his contract expires after four-and-a-half seasons in charge at London Stadium.

And Brady has suggested that the decision to part ways is mutual, rather than club pushing the head coach out.

“Often in life — and certainly in sport — one of the toughest challenges is knowing when to change something that has been good, something that has been stable, something that has been successful,” the author wrote in an article for The Sun on May 10.

“At West Ham, David and I both felt that the time was appropriate to make a change as we strive to carry out that pursuit in keeping with our goal of an even better future.

“A future that David Moyes has contributed to by putting in place the fundamentals of stability and consistency.”

The right time for managerial change at West Ham United?

It is indisputable that Moyes has been successful at West Ham since being reappointed as head coach for a second time.

Though their chances of repeating that achievement this term are slim, the Scotsman quickly delivered Europa League qualification in the very next campaign and every campaign thereafter, steering the team to safety in his first half-season as they teetered on the verge of relegation.

The team also had success in the Europa League, reaching the quarterfinals and semifinals. Finally, they won the Europa Conference League last season, which was their first trophy since 1980 and their first European trophy since 1965.
