Few have been more successful in the NBA in any phase of their career, whether it be on the court, on the sideline, or behind the scenes as an executive than Pat Riley, who is currently the team president of the Miami Heat.
From his days as a player and head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers to managing the Heat team, where he assisted in winning three NBA titles while in Miami, Riley has achieved success at every turn.
As he understands what he’s doing and doesn’t accept criticism from players, coaches, or the media, the Heat president is the epitome of success in the NBA and is widely recognized among his peers.
Riley’s remarkable success in the league over the course of his career is due in large part to his unique approach, which has worked well for him. However, Riley’s strict discipline can occasionally get to the wrong point with certain of his players.
Mario Chalmers, a former guard for the Miami Heat, discussed Riley’s discipline and revealed, via Heat Nation, that the Miami executive followed him about when he went out.
Chalmers remarked, “I wasn’t in trouble; he was just telling me that you can’t do anything in this city without my knowledge.”
Chalmers is one of many who have felt Riley’s wrath and watchful eye while in Miami, as superstar Jimmy Butler might be going through the same treatment right now.
Butler made some ill-advised comments recently about what would’ve happened had he been healthy against the Boston Celtics, which didn’t sit well with Riley, who advised his superstar to keep quiet if he isn’t playing, which seems like sage advice.
