West Ham United have reportedly held internal discussions over the possibility of appointing Graham Potter this summer after suffering a setback in their pursuit of Ruben Amorim, according to 90min.
According to a story published on April 23, the Hammers considered their pursuit of Sporting CP manager Amorim to be “a long shot.” They are also reportedly in talks with Lille manager Paulo Fonseca and Potter, who has not taken on a head coaching role since leaving Chelsea a year ago.
Similar to Potter, Julen Lopetegui is believed to be considered a more “feasible” target because, as of last August, he has not been into a relationship since leaving Wolves.
Would Graham Potter be a good fit at West Ham United?
If West Ham’s manager David Moyes decides not to extend his contract at the end of the current campaign, the supporters will be eager to see a manager who plays a more assertive, forward-thinking brand of football than the Scot.
In that regard, Potter most definitely fits the bill. His fluid, possession-based style of football was evident at all of his former clubs, including Ostersund, Swansea City, Brighton, and Chelsea.
Although the tactician from Solihull had a difficult time during his tenure with the Blues, it appears that Potter was not the only one at fault given the difficulties that Frank Lampard and now Mauricio Pochettino faced.
