Will the transfer running back end up in Lexington?
The spring transfer window is officially open for college football as the Kentucky Wildcats look to round out their roster heading into the summer.
Damien Martinez, an Oregon State transfer, is reportedly scheduled to visit the Cats this spring, suggesting that they are interested in adding a running back.
The list of running backs that have been contacted can now include one more name.
Kentucky has reportedly been in touch with Louisville Cardinals transfer Peny Boone, according to a report by Pete Nakos of On3. Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, and a few other states have also contacted him.
Boone would desire to play in the SEC, according to Nakos.Since then, Nakos has mentioned that Boone will spend this weekend with the Washington Huskies.
Boone, a 6-foot-1 and 242-pound running back out of Detroit, transferred to Louisville this past winter from Toledo. At the time, Kentucky was also involved.
Boone is now one of the best backs available as he is back in the portal.
Boone won the MAC title of Offensive Player of the Year for the Rockets during the previous campaign. He gained 1,400 yards on 194 carries by the end of the season and 15 touchdowns through the air.
Chip Trayanum, an Ohio State transfer, joined Kentucky’s running back room over the winter, and it appears the Cats are trying to recruit another explosive back to line up next to him.
Martinez still appears to be the best option, but it’s safe to believe they want to bring in another back this spring or summer given that they reached out to Boone.
