Tottenham midfielder to be sold as ‘Mind-Blowing’ verdict shared after ‘Ridiculous’ transfer update on Tuesday
John Wenham claims Tottenham will sell midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer after a “ridiculous” transfer update emerged from Spain.
The 27-year-old “can’t be relied upon,” according to the host of the respectable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, and he will undoubtedly leave North London at the end of the current campaign.
It follows on the heels of a claim from Spanish news source Fichajes on April 16 that Atletico Madrid is prepared to make a “ridiculous offer” of £17 million, with Diego Simeone being particularly interested in Lo Celso.
Speaking only to Tottenham News, Wenham believes that Lo Celso will never be able to recover under Ange Postecoglou.
“Lo Celso was recently awarded with a plaque for reaching 100 Tottenham appearances. However, those 100 appearances accumulate to just seven full 90 minutes, having joined the club in 2019, which is just mind-blowing,” Wenham said.
“Some people have suggested to me that Lo Celso should play when James Maddison isn’t performing, but he can’t be relied upon.
“Every time he has done something good this season, he has then followed that up by being unavailable for two or three weeks.
“It is incredibly frustrating, and he is someone Tottenham will be moving on this summer.”
Daniel Levy must accept cut-price Giovani Lo Celso sale at Tottenham
If an offer of £17million does arrive from Madrid, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy should accept the offer without a second thought.
Lo Celso is set to enter the final year of his contract in June, and if he isn’t moved on this summer, then Tottenham run the risk of losing a valuable asset for nothing.
This is a transfer which has never worked out for either party, and it would be best for everyone involved if a solution was found sooner rather than later.
In other Tottenham news, one Under-21 player at the club could solve a problem for Postecoglou after what he did on Monday.
