‘Everything about him is improving’: Ange Postecoglou says 22-year-old Tottenham Hotspur player will get even better
One of the reasons why Tottenham Hotspur are flourishing under head coach Ange Postecoglou this season is that they have a number of young and promising players.
I believe that Tottenham Hotspur’s roster is a decent mix of youthful players and seasoned veterans.
While it is true that Spurs lack the players to challenge Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal for the Premier League championship, the North London team most likely will finish in fourth place.
The current Tottenham Hotspur team includes youthful players like Radu Dragusin, Destiny Udogie, Oliver Skipp, and Pape Matar Sarr in addition to well-known players like James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and Son Heung-min.
Micky van de Ven is another youthful player on the Tottenham team that is a standout right now.
The 22-year-old made an immediate impact at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after moving from VfL Wolfsburg to Tottenham in the summer of 2023.
Although Van de Ven has struggled with injuries this season, he is a regular starter for Tottenham and lines up with Romero in the middle of the defense when healthy.
This season, the youthful center back has made 22 appearances for Spurs. In those contests, he has netted two goals. Many people have praised Van de Ven’s speed.
Ange Postecoglou gives his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou has been hugely impressed with Van de Ven and has noted that he always wants to improve.
Postecoglou told TNT Sports about Van de Ven: “He’s been outstanding. I’m reluctant to say how good he can be because I don’t know and I would hate to put a limit on it.
“When you look at him and his background, he’s had one year in the Bundesliga, again not at a massive club [Wolfsburg], and he’s come to the Premier League. His growth through this year has just been outstanding for us.
“People talk about his speed and his ability to defend in one-on-one situations but everything about him is improving – his passing, his ball carrying, his physicality, and he’s great to work with. He wants to improve every day.”
Liverpool wanted to sign Micky van de Ven
In the summer of 2023, Micky van de Ven had the opportunity to sign with Liverpool; nevertheless, the defender opted to play for Tottenham Hotspur.
In November 2023, TEAMtalk said that Virgil van Dijk, a central defender for Liverpool, had spoken with Van de Ven directly about a possible transfer to Anfield. They are both Dutch.
However, the youthful defender made the decision to join Tottenham because he believed there would be a greater opportunity for him to play regular first-team games.
